The Project
Working once again in collaboration with BAM, DCL were given with scope of SFS, Internal partitions, and ceilings. Both site teams had previously worked together which allowed us to hit the ground running from day one, and with the help of Frameclad complete the 12-week SFS installation two weeks ahead of program. This in turn allowed the Internal partitions to commence ahead of schedule.
For this project DCL utilised British Gypsums ‘Gypframe Carbon low’ range of metal profiles. Making us the first project in the Midlands to use the new range which offers up to 58% less embodied carbon over the whole product life cycle versus their standard metal profiles.
Using these materials helped in reducing the projects carbon footprint allowing BAM to achieve higher BREEAM and LEED points.
They have been good in helping the BAM team to coordinate design with both British Gypsum and Frameclad , looking at ways to make thing cost effective while learning from pits falls and lesson learned on other projects.
Production wise they have a very good management structure which puts safety and quality at the top of their agenda, holding a core labour force which keep standards and output levels at a premium.
